Keeping up with Ka'Rell

Ka'Rell Henry will be attending Mount St. Michael Academy this September to begin his High School career. He looks forward to maintaining his 4.00 GPA. On the Basketball court, he is going to try out for the Freshman team. As long as he remains focused he will be fine! Ka'Rell is a very holy child. He does the sign of the cross every time he begins a task. God will be with him along the way!

  Ka'Rell Henry, born and raised in Bronx, NY.
   Ka'Rell first started playing basketball on monkey bars with friends in a small playground right downstairs from his building. Ka'Rell played basketball all his life. He started playing organized CYO(CATHOLIC YOUTH ORGANIZATION) Basketball with his school at age 10 in 5th grade. He wasn't the best player, but at age and the height he was, (5'5) was exceptional.

   Over the years, Ka'Rell has excelled to be a better basketball player. When he reached the 6th grade at age 11 he was tall for his age compared to his peers. At 5'8 playing Junior Varsity, he was always the biggest on the court. He had an advantage. Every night he would drop 14 points and 20 rebounds easily. It wasn't only that he was tall, its because he had a huge heart. He had determination to be the best.

The year 2009, 7th grade. Age 12 and he's still tall for his age at 5'9 1/2. Now, he's playing with a new school ..Holy Family. Tallest on the team once again and just one difference.. he's playing Varsity. A little bit of a task for him but he got passed it. His first varsity game with his new school he had 14 points and 12 rebounds. Not bad for a first! Through out the season his team had tasks taking on the best teams in the Bronx and going up against the best teams in the best tournaments. They won every tournament they took place in. But a sad ending to the season with a 44-47 lost in the State/County Championship. They ended the season "39-3", if I'm not mistaken.

Last year in Middle School in 8th grade. He's the best 8th grader I have seen play in a long time. He stands at 6'0 150 lbs. A beast in his division. Averages 15 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 1 steal per game. Best player in CYO-NY ? I think so. Ka'Rell is looking forward to playing high school basketball, but does not know where. This 8th grade year isn't over yet. Ka'Rell is having a great year, and theres more to come!!

Ka'Rell is a hard working kid. He's always in the gym working on his skill and never wants to take a day off. Getting tired (fatigue) isn't a factor for this up and coming basketball star. To him either you work, or don't play at all.

To some kids basketball is just a hobby or a sport they like to play. To this kid Ka'Rell, basketball is a passion. No matter what he's doing or where he's at..he's thinking about the game. Sometimes it can get annoying but when you really sit back and think about it this boy is in love with the game. Every time he steps on the court he puts 110% of effort into his game. Overall, he's still a child..but if he continues to play and maintain his work ethic, he'll turn out to be a terrific basketball player.
